Put aside all of your biases for a minute and hear me out.

February 7, 2010, Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, on CBS with the absolutely fantastic Gus Johnson filling in for Jim Nantz for the Super Bowl.

Two high powered offenses with respectable defenses squaring off on the national stage trying somehow to top the previous two Super Bowls, which featured David Tyree’s Helmet Catch and Santonio Holmes tapping two feet in the corner of the end zone.

Could this be more than a dream?

Which two teams come to mind?

Every year there is the match-up we all want and the actual game. Recently the Super Bowls have been amazing to watch, filled with dramatic ending, legendary plays and clutch field goal kicking.

Before this decade, the Super Bowl would feature two mismatched teams and usually resulted in a blowout that had audiences tuning out before another horrible halftime show.

The best possible game in the Super Bowl has to be the Indianapolis Colts playing the  New Orleans Saints right?

The two premier quarterbacks in the NFL ripping up two better than expected secondary’s. Plus both teams have vastly underrated running games; each team features two solid running backs.

The likelihood of that actually being the Super Bowl is pretty slim but you have to hope, right?

Colts' Peyton Manning

Colts' Peyton Manning

Drew Brees looks like he’s barely trying out there and Peyton Manning is so good it’s almost become annoying to watch him.

The Colts received their toughest test of the season yesterday against San Francisco. Even with a sub par game for Manning’s standards, he still completed 31-of-48 passes for 347 yards. Although he had no touchdowns, Indianapolis had just enough to out-last the 49ers 18-14.

Any team is going to be tested, it’s just how they respond to it that makes them champions. Don’t bet on Manning being held out of the end zone for the rest of the year.

Last week at Miami, the Saints had to find a way to deal with an unconventional offense. Miami led by its “Wildcat” offense jumped to a 21 point lead, but with Brees lining up for New Orleans, the game was still not out of hand.

Despite three interceptions and being sacked five times, Brees came out firing lasers down the field and using his feet to score two rushing touchdowns, his only so far in 2009.

Again, the Dolphins socked New Orleans pretty well, but the Saints responded, dominated the second half and won 46-34.

Looming in the AFC for Indianapolis are the usual suspects: the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, the suddenly hot Denver Broncos and possibly the San Diego Chargers.

For the Saints, the NFC playoffs will likely have the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons or the Dallas Cowboys.

Tonight on Monday Night Football, Brees will be battling division rival Atlanta and look to remain with the Colts as the only unbeaten teams remaining in the NFL.

Brees needs one touchdown and about 500 yards to match Manning’s season totals. Plus the Falcons have one of the most suspect secondary’s in the league. Something tells me there will be a lot of channel flipping tonight between football and the World Series.

One thing is for sure, if the Saints and Colts meet up in Miami, no one will be changing the channel ever.
